5 tips for dealing with heat waves on construction sites

July 28, 2022

Construction site jobs are among the most arduous and dangerous when a heatwave hits France!

MAC3 is aware of this problem.

So here are 5 tips to keep you working safely.

  • Keeping well hydrated

Hydration is very important!

When you're physically active, you need to drink at least 2 liters of water a day, not 1 liter less!

It's important to drink even before you're thirsty 🙂

A little tip: bring an insulated container and a cooler to keep the water cool.

  • Wear appropriate clothing

It's important to protect your body from the sun. ☀️

For this, you can opt for loose-fitting clothes that will keep you comfortable, but not so loose that you snag the garment.

We also recommend light-coloured cotton clothing, as light-coloured garments attract much less heat than dark ones!

Finally, it's important to protect your head from sunstroke by wearing a cap or helmet!

Here's a little tip: there are protective caps available to keep you safe on the job site.

You can find them at this link:

  • Adapting your diet

Even though it's hot and it can take away your hunger, it's important to eat enough!

In fact, cold, salty dishes are preferable. To compensate for our loss of mineral salts!

  • Protecting your skin

We don't always think about it...

But it's important to protect your skin with sunscreen toavoid sunburn as much as possible.

  • Keep away from heat sources

Finally, we advise you to stay away from heat sources!

Mobile compressors in particular can be a source of heat.

Take care of yourself and others 🙂

Heat waves are never easy on construction sites! Let's work together to make these moments more bearable.
