How to choose your dryer ?

February 16, 2023

Why is humidity one of compressed air's main "enemies"?

Condensate and air contamination have a negative influence on the reliable operation of air distribution networks and equipment requiring compressed air.

Network problems :

  • Corrosion
  • Pressure loss
  • Contamination of end products
  • Icing
  • Curative maintenance

Consequences for production equipment :

  • Clogging
  • Excessive wear
  • Outages
  • Production delays

How to choose the right compressed air dryer?

Step 1: Know the compressed air quality level required for your sector.

By consulting ISO 8573-1 STANDARD :

The international quality standard for compressed air, offers a simple classification system for the three main contaminants present in any compressed air system: IMPURITIES, WATER and OIL.

Refrigerated dryers

Compressed air for frost-free industrial applications.

Dew point +3°C

AIR QUALITY TO ISO 8573,1 - CLASS 1,2,1

Modular adsorption dryers

Compressed air for demanding industrial applications or those exposed to frost.

Dew point -40°C

STEP 2: Establish pressure dew point.

It corresponds to the temperature at which water vapor condenses and turns into water at air pressure.

A dryer is required to remove this moisture.

Once you know the required air purity and pressure dew point, you've determined the best drying method.
